Dysport treatment for excessive arm pit sweating (axillary hyperhidrosis)

Dysport injections are very effective to treat the most embarrassing and distressing excessive arm pit sweating (axillary hyperhidrosis). The treatment for excessive sweating works along with the scientific explanation that the protein produced by the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum is observed to block of the release of acetylcholine. Acetylcholine is a kind of transmitter of signals between the brain and the muscles. This results in the muscles under the arm pits not receiving the message from the brain and not contracting repeatedly, which causes sweating. Dysport causes the relaxation of the muscles under the treated area and fights excessive sweating. The treatment results are temporary and need to be refreshed.

Because the treatment results are temporary, some doctors charge a very large amount for the treatment. Doctors often prescribe different doses. Lower doses don't last very long. We have seen quite often a price that is quoted for Dysport to be very good but if you check the dose given, it may be very low and short acting. Therefore when you ask for a quote - check what dose you are being given. The full dose for the commonest Dysport treatments is 500 units in total (250 Units per side)

These Dysport dose for arm pit sweating should last anywhere from 6 to 9 months. Some clinics often give only a fraction of these doses but still charge for the full dose. This means that you have to have treatments every 6 to 8 weeks. If you do want to have Dysport treatment for underarm sweating ask your physician if you are having a full dose and find out the cost of the full dose. At my clinic, we always give a full dose of 500 Units of Dysport for underarm sweating. The sweat glands that are treated with Dysport relax within one or two days.
