Chemical Peels

Chemical peel uses a chemical solution to improve and smooth the texture of the facial skin by removing its damaged outer layers. It is helpful with facial blemishes, wrinkles and uneven skin pigmentation. We customize chemical peels to meet each of our patient's needs.

Alphahydroxy acids (AHAs), such as glycolic, lactic, or fruit acids are the mildest of the peel formulas and produce light peels. Alpha hydroxy acids are extracted from plants and fruits. These types of peels can provide smoother, brighter-looking skin for people who can't spare the time to recover from a phenol or strong TCA peel. AHA peels may be used to treat fine wrinkling, areas of dryness, uneven pigmentation and acne. Various concentrations of an AHA may be applied weekly or at longer intervals to obtain the best result. For Alphahydroxy acids chemical peels we are using between 20% and 70% concentrations

Trichloroacetic acid (TCA) can be used in many concentrations, but it is most commonly used for medium-depth peeling. Hyperpigmentation, sun damage and pre-cancerous lesions, acne, fine surface wrinkles and medium-depth lines, lip creases, freckling, superficial blemishes are commonly treated with TCA. For TCA chemical peel we are using 10% concentration.

Salicylic acid (beta hydroxy acid) which also includes trethocanic acid, tropic acid and beta hydroxybutanoic acid. These are all synthetically made, unlike alpha hydroxy acids which are extracted from plants and fruits. Salicylic acid chemical peels are well tolerated by most people and excellent for improving skin tone, minimizing fine lines and wrinkles and removing whiteheads and blackheads and heavily clogged pores. Salicylic acid is an effective exfoliating agent and can improve the appearance of skin that is affected by acne. For Salicylic acid chemical peels we are using 17% and 40% concentrations.

In our clinic we also offer lytic acid peels which are a modified of Salicylic acid and salicin. These combination peels have faster yet gentler penetration than plain Salicylic acid or AHA peels. This peel system is well tolerated by all ski types including the most sensitive skin.

A Jessner peel is a combination peel that consists of salicylic acid, lactic acid and resorcinol. It is a medium-depth peel that penetrates beyond the top layers of the skin. The most common uses for Jessner peels are to treat cystic acne, extensive sun damage, skin discoloration or skin issues that go beyond what an alpha hydroxy acid peel can treat. This peel will cause frosting almost immediately upon application and will provide you with much peeling.
